Today, January 6, Jordanovden is celebrated throughout Bulgaria. And Sveti Vlas is no exception. The holiday will commemorate the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. The main ritual of this day is the throwing of the cross. The priest throws a wooden cross into the water, and young guys (preferably an odd number) jump after it. Whoever pulls out the cross will be healthy and happy throughout the year. On the beach near La Cubanita, people gathered to witness this action. The cross was caught by the most lively young man and everyone is satisfied and happy.
